Trademark Paralegal - DE


Townsend is one of the nation's leading intellectual property firms, comprising one of the largest and most highly specialized trademark and copyright practices in the U.S.

We seek a trademark paralegal who is passionate about protecting brand identity and expression to assist with trademark matters, including:  trademark prosecution, maintenance and enforcement.

Responsibilities include:

  • Conduct trademark clearance searches
  • Conduct trademark investigations
  • Prepare copyright applications
  • Prepare and file U.S. and international trademark applications and responses to office actions
  • Prepare status reports outlining the status of trademark and copyright protections
  • Provide trademark copies, references and ordering file histories
  • Manage docket, drafting routine correspondence and prosecution documents
  • Review/update foreign client and associates files
  • Research technical references, trademark and legal issues
  • Perform other duties/projects as assigned

Candidate Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in trademark prosecution paralegal support within a professional environment, law firm and/or other professional services firm preferred
  • Extensive knowledge of Trademark Prosecution (both foreign and domestic)
  • Extensive knowledge of Trademarks and Copyrights
  • Extensive knowledge of USPTO including processes and regulations
  • Extensive knowledge of computer systems and programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Acrobat, SAEGIS, DIALOG, Lexis/Nexis, and Westlaw
  • Sense of urgency, strong organizational skills and effective time management
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team  
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential, as you will communicate with attorneys, all levels of administrative staff and contacts outside the Firm
  • Excellent attention to detail, problem solving, editing and proofreading abilities are also key
  • Bachelor's degree and/or paralegal certificate preferred
